In the summer of 2022, Logan began complaining of chest pain. His pediatrician initially suspected inflammation in his chest bone—a common issue in growing kids. X-rays and an EKG came back clear. But over the following months, Logan developed additional symptoms: wheezing, trouble swallowing, swelling in his face and neck. When his parents took him to the ER, a CT scan revealed the truth: a large mass was pressing against his heart and airway.

He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

At just eight years old, Logan expected to walk out of the hospital with some medicine and be done. Instead, he was admitted and began a long treatment journey. His parents—Erin and Brian—did their best to stay strong for him, breaking down only when he was asleep. “You don’t have a choice,” Erin said. “You do it. You get through it second by second.”

Through it all, Logan’s spirit never faded. He became known on the oncology floor for his animal impressions—especially his goat noise—and his ability to make everyone around him smile. What helped most? His Xbox. It allowed him to stay connected with friends and escape into laughter, even in the hospital.

Now in remission, Logan is enjoying summer break, staying up late playing video games, and dreaming of big things—like flying. (“What would you do with that superpower?” someone asked. “Basically… just fly.”)

His parents say they’ve been overwhelmed by support, often from people they never expected. A chance conversation in a motorcycle store even connected them with another cancer family, turning a stranger into a friend who truly understood.

Logan’s family received support through Just In Power Kids, including therapy reimbursement and meals from the Clean Cuisine program. “It all helps—especially when your world stops but everything else keeps moving,” Erin said.

When asked what it means to be a Power Kid, Logan quietly said it’s exciting—though he doesn’t love the spotlight. But even with the spotlight off, he’s still shining.

His advice to other kids going through cancer? “Keep going.”

And from his mom: “People think it won’t happen to them. But it’s not as rare as you think. We’ve been floored by how many others are going through the same thing.”

Logan closes out Maryland Trek 12 with a story of quiet strength, humor, and resilience. And a goat impression that could rival anyone’s.
