From dancing to running and more, Phoebe was always on the move. So when she fell ill several times and was too tired to do her typical routine, her mom became worried. After several visits to the doctor which were initially dismissed as growing pains, mono, and other routine illnesses, her family says they were blindsided by a cancer diagnosis.
Phoebe has T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, a rare cancer that usually occurs in young adults, so it was even more rare for her age. Phoebe, like other children battling cancer, spent multiple days in hospitals receiving treatment. Her mom says even when she was poked and prodded, and admitted at midnight, she still stayed positive. And thanks to numbing cream shots and blood draws have become a bit more bearable.
Phoebe and her dad tightened their bond while building Legos. Chris was saving up vacation time in hopes of being on Lego Masters, but he was able to put it to good use after Phoebe’s diagnosis and stay home to help her.
Phoebe's been channeling her energy into some amazing things. She loves helping out, and this summer, she even volunteered at a dance camp for little ones. She’s also been busy organizing a massive Band-Aid drive for the hospital, ensuring other kids have fun Band-Aids instead of those boring brown ones.
